Hi there German Clubbers, and welcome to term four.
I apologise for the tardiness of this WILD!, and for the absence of the all-important logo, but sometimes things don't always work out the way you plan them - Melinda's words of wisdom for the term. Anyway, I hope that everyone had a refreshing holiday. Only two weeks to go...

Cocktail Party
On Friday the 2nd of November we'll be holding our annual (and unofficial) cocktail party, one of the most popular events of the year!
This year Dave Robertson has graciously agreed to host it at his house, and the theme this year is Empire . Come as the queen, a storm trooper, Tony Blair (!), or some other empirical figure.

The Place: 12 Azalea St, Prospect
The Night: Friday the 1st of November
The Time: Cocktails will begin at 7.30
The Price: $15

Tickets can be arranged with Cristina Barbulesca on 83564607, or by emailing myself or Heidi the president (augcprez@hotmail.com). Alternatively, talk to someone at Kaffeeklatch. Get in quick, because we have a limited number of tickets!

Kaffeeklatch

Just a reminder about Kaffeeklatch, the last two Thursdays at 1pm in the Margaret Murray. Coffee and cake for all who show up!

French v German Club Soccer Match Roundup

Always an excellent bonding experience, the French/German Club soccer match was a lot of fun, and resulted in a draw of four all. Dave Robertson scored every goal for the German Club, but not without a lot of help from the other German players, namely Paul Doeke, Heidi the president, Nerida Deans, Beth Nosworthy and Tim.
A sad, grey day that persisted in looking as though is was going to rain without really going through with it, the German Club faced the french Club on Sunday the 8th of September. We were disadvantaged by our teams' absence of nibbles and drinks, which the French Club (well stocked) was only too happy to share with us. With several soccer novices and only one expert (Dave), we were faced with some daunting French Club talent.
The game picked up considerably for us when Paul came on the scene six minutes into the first quarter, and Heidi showed passionate devotion to the game to the detriment of her clothing. Nerida showed much enthusiasm, and Beth showed an unexpected talent for soccer which we expect to be developed by next year's match! And much kudos is due to Tim the goalie, whose dedication saved our dignity by fielding many, many French goal attempts.
